Yamunotri located in Garhwal Himalayas and 30km approx north of Uttarkashi at an altitude of 3,293 meters.it exists with its tremendous mountain cliffs, glaciers and pouring waters of Yamuna. The Yamuna is the second sacred river of the country, which emerges in Yamunotri. It is one of the Chota Dham of Uttarakhand. According to the Vedas Yamuna know as Yami a( lady of life), bath into the Yamuna cleans all sins and safeguard from a painful death.
