Tranquebar is also known as Tharangambadi. It is a town in the Mayiladuthurai district in the state of Tamil Nadu. It just lies 15km to the north of Karaikal and is very near to the mouth of the Kaveri river. It is also commonly known as the "Land of Singing Waves". The Dansborg Fort that was built a long ago in order to start a bilateral trade can still be seen in this region. In this little region, one can see a proper blend of Danish, British, German, and French colonies that once made their settlement.
