Jamnagar is located at the southwest of Gujarat, northwestern part of the Kathiawar Peninsula, south-east of Bedi, and its port on the Gulf of Kachchh of the Arabian sea. Jamnagar was established in 1540 and the capital of the former Nawanagar state. Home of the two largest oil refineries in India. Jamnagar is popular for its Bandhani, gold embroidery and metalware. Jamnagar is operated by highways, railways and an airport. In the centre of the city, Lakhota Fort and the Kotha Bastion two spectacular old buildings are located on an island in the middle of Ranmal lake. The surrounding areas include Barda hills, Mangroves on the shores of the Gulf of Kachchh provides firewood and pasture. It is a little touristy but engaging city.
