Akkalkot a small town in the Solapur District of State Maharashtra. It is located at a distance of 38 km from the district headquarters. Akkalkot is a Holy Place of Shri Swami Samarth Maharaj. The samadi of Saint is worshipped by devotees. It is believed that the Swami Samarth Maharaj was the rebirth of Lord Dattatraya. The popular temple of Swami is constructed around famous banyan trees. This is the same banyan tree under which swami used to preach to the followers and meditate.
