The name of the town Mukteshwar has been taken from the Mukteshwar Dham present here, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a beautiful town and it is believed that Lord Shiva fought a demon at this very spot, killed him, and then granted him salvation. Mukteshwar Temple

Mukteshwar Temple is one of the popular eighteen temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is 350 years old and stands at a towering altitude of 2312m above sea level. The temple is located at the highest point of Mukteshwar, making it a popular spot for clicking pictures and breathing in the fresh air. The architectural style of the temple makes it one of a kind. There are several Lingas and sculptures in meditating poses. This temple is a popular temple and there is a belief that couples who are trying to conceive have been blessed with a child, after praying in the Mukteshwar temple. 

Chauli Ki Jali

Chauli Ki Jali is a spot for sightseeing, located 1.5km from the main market of Mukteshwar. Chauli ki Jali is a stone with a hole in it, and there are several myths regarding the stone, including the fierce battle between the Goddess and a demon. Another myth that follows is that women, having a hard time conceiving, are blessed with children if they are touched by the natural lattice found near the rock. Indian Veterinary Research Institute

Established by the JHB Hallen, the Indian Veterinary Research Institute is a deemed university built in the year 1885. Perched at an elevation of 7260ft above sea level, located at the intersection of Gagar and Lohaghat and the location of this institute adds more beauty to it. The jaw-dropping views and the name of the institute are enough to attract tourists. The institute carries out research on various diseases and attracts a good number of tourists every year.

Bhalu Gaad Waterfall 

The word Bhalu Gaad literally stands for Bhalu, ‘Bear’ and Gaad means ‘Stream’, and is located at a distance of approximately 12.3km from Mukteshwar. The waterfall is 60ft high, whose source is still undiscovered and this waterfall is said to be a hidden treasure of Mukteshwar. It is an ideal place for day treks.

Perched at an elevation of 1938m above sea level, Nainital is located at a distance of 52km from Mukteshwar. Nainital is popular for its lakes and is also given the name of Lake District as there are numerous lakes presents such as Bhimtal, Naukuchiatal, Nainital Lake, Sattal, and Khurpatal. Perched at an elevation of 1375m above sea level, Bhimtal is located just 35km from Mukteshwar. The place is mainly famous for Bhimtal Lake and the name has been inspired by Bhima from Mahabharata, who visited Bhimtal during the exile of Pandavas. It is believed that this place might have been a part of the silk route. The best time to visit Bhimtal is March to June and September to December.
